House panel favours commercial surrogacy, overturns key provisions …

In a major setback to the government today, the parliamentary panel reviewing the surrogacy Bill asked the government to permit commercial surrogacy and allow the service not just for married Indian couples but also live-in partners, single/ divorced women, widows and NRIs and OCIs. The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Health has virtually overturned every major provision of the Surrogacy Regulation Bill 2016, questioning the government rationale in saying that only a close relative of the intending couples can serve as a surrogate mother. The panel has said both related and unrelated women should be allowed to become surrogates.

The Wire Surrogacy Bill Should Be Broadened, Include Compensation, Says Parliamentary Panel. The Wire Calling the draft surrogacy Bill ‘narrow’, the parliamentary committee has recommended allowing live-in couples, divorced women and widows to use surrogates, adding that a surrogate should not have to belong to the parent’s family.

NIPAH VIRUS RECENT ARTICLE MAY 2018

ISAPL OPERATIONS TEAM IS TAKING DAILY UPDATES FROM THE HOSPITALS IN KERALA REGARDING THE VIRUS SPREAD.  IF YOU NEED ASSISTANCE TO RETURN HOME WITH ESCORT CONTACT ISAPL OPERATIONS TEAM BY PHONE OR VIA EMAIL.

The National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has put neighbouring states on alert following the outbreak of the Nipah virus in Kerala.

Karnataka, Maharashtra and Goa have been asked to take appropriate measures. According to the Union health ministry, 13 confirmed cases were reported in Kerala, while out of the 16 suspected cases, 15 were admitted in Government Medical College, Kozhikode, and one was admitted in Manjeri Medical College in Malappuram. At least 11 people lost their lives to the virus, the health ministry said.

Symptoms of the virus were also seen in two people from Karnataka’s Mangaluru, after they visited Kerala and had reportedly come in contact with infected patients. However, there was no official confirmation on the development.

“Currently, the cases are limited to Kerala only. There is no confirmation of spread of the disease to other states. We urge the public not to panic as the situation is under control.

The Kerala government on Wednesday asked tourists to avoid visiting Kozhikode, Malappuram, Wayanad and Kannur. The Karnataka government, too, directed visitors to avoid eight districts bordering Kerala, including Chamarajnagar, Mysuru, Kodagu, Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada, Udupi, Shivamogga and Chikkamagaluru. Goa is also on high alert.

The Nipah virus is a zoonotic infectious disease that spreads from fruit bats to humans. It can be transmitted to humans from animals (bats, pigs), and can also be transmitted directly from human-to-human.

“It carries high mortality ranging from 75 to 100%. It affects the brain and causes depressed sensorial, fever and respiratory depression. People who consume pork are at high risk. Treatment is supportive as there are no vaccines or antiviral medications, Kochi.

ISAPL at Cyclone Fani

ISAPL seeks support from AIIMS

A young female professional from German organisation, amidst a Cyclone hit city of Bhubneshwar. While she is in an enclosed home, window pane shatters and she severely injures her hand. Can be a probable case of partial loss or amputated. Out there is cyclone at its peak.  Chaos all around. Helplines stop responding. Electricity….. Mobile signals intermittent. Crisis of a kind !!
ISAPL rose to the occasion, yet again. Command center team from Delhi, took over on Phones and the Doctor guided the traumatized girl to be strong and confident to handle the situation as guided over the phone. Coached her into her own first aid, without the first aid kit. Few pictures in between. 2 hours of guided medication and injury handling. By now, the girl is composed and is handling herself. Empathy boosts confidence.  The hand needs surgical intervention sooner.

Although a private hospital is within 10 minutes drive….but……No rescue team, ambulance, Police vehicle, No vehicle can move. No person can walk around. etc. NDRF and Police, not in reach.

A girl protected by 2 males on a Scooty, dare to be driven to the nearby private hospital, who Excused the support. Apollo too in disarray.
ISAPL medical team was then hoping of AIIMS, who themselves were struggling with the structural damages. ISAPL medical team in constant connect. Initial injury management done and next course of action is Plastic Surgery.

ISAPL is now working on the further surgery and shape recovery. May be an Air Transfer from Bhubneswar to Kolkatta. Or a Surgeon visit to the girl.

ISAPL works during any disaster. Our Director Operations, Ms. Poonam is experienced and Qualified from International Red Cross, and Oxford on “Public Health Principles in Disaster and Medical Humanitarian Response”.

When an Air Ambulance killed the patient

😢I remember that dreadful night. Ms. Poonam, an employee of US Embassy at Delhi.
This disaster struck and Ms. Poonam was up and running at that fateful night. An Air Ambulance carrying American citizen crash landed on the Roof top a house in Faridabad suburb.  It was a long ordeal to rescue and recover the Injured / deceased Americans in this Pilatus.

While the Govt agencies were busy containing the damage and removing debris from the Indian habitat in those congested isles. Poonam was on the toes to transfer the Americans to the Super Specialty hospitals or mortuary.

Almost 12 days of concerted efforts from Ms. Poonam on those injured / deceased. A BIG appreciation and credits from the US State Department. Lots of blessings from the families.

Many many learning from the accident. The ‘Cheaper option’ costed here. The Pilatus and Night flying was a deadly combination. Money matters, not more than the life.

Now ofcourse, the same Ms. Poonam is the Founding Director of ISAPL group.

Air Rescue from Manali

It’s always great to work with you! You are professionals, you are great people, and as I told you before. I see us together as one team!” – Vice President (Insurance company)
Another crisis being managed the BEST by Director Operations Ms. Poonam by Air Ambulance
The foreign national had a fall from height. injured skull. Hilly terrain of Himachal Pradesh.
Rescue, Medical aid, Evacuation, and Air transfer(Chopper), road transfer, Super Specialty Hospital in a major City.

We keep all well-informed and leverage all the possible capabilities……………..family, Insurance company, Hospital, Embassy, Aviation, District Commissioner, medical team, Road Ambulance etc. etc

Another compliment received: “Women are better at everything” !!

😖Cheapness prevails- Air Ambulance services

This was the reason for me starting the ISAPL:
“Poonam Jain, a former Diplomatic mission employee for 20+ years, was consumed by the idea of bringing in a compelling change in the Medical Emergency response sector that suggested her to leave her glass-ceiling cushy job and be the first lady entrepreneur. To her astonishment, she found there are no transparency and ethics in this industry and a medical emergency is ‘milked’. Country doesn’t have any guidelines or control mechanism. It was a completely un-organised industry, if we call it so.”

And here is a visible bad news:

🤔Delhi-based firm running air ambulance service dupes six of Rs 41 lakh😢
https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/delhi/firm-running-air-ambulance-service-dupes-six-of-rs-41-lakh/articleshow/70284439.cms

Just imagine the plight of those patients who were left high-dry-traumatized-cheated-???

Few reasons I could gather:

  1. There are no guidelines for Air Ambulance operators.
  2. The market is ofcourse replete with ‘companies’ who have very high budget for PPC / Google Ad Words/ Digital Marketing. Search for ‘Air Ambulance’ and you will know…..
  3. Indian clients look for the ‘cheapest’ Air Ambulance.
  4. Most transactions happen in quick ‘Cash’. And lots of ‘commissions / referrals’ to the mediators.
  5. Compounders impersonate a Doctor on an Air Ambulance
  6. Individuals are running the Air Ambulance co, with just a security guard
  7. India in itself doesn’t generate institutional business of Air Ambulance. The patient transfer by Air is very sheepishly ‘controlled’ by the Admin of hospitals. In few cases, the head of hospital’s Emergency department has side business of Air Ambulance Transfers.

ISAPL is pretty happy serving small, global institutional business; ethically.
(I am currently at New Zealand, overseeing an Air Transfer of a Psychic patient.  It is good to audit my own business.)

ISAPL Rescues a 23 yrs young foreign national from Kaza

🎖Young foreign national girl. Stuck in Kaza Valley of Himachal Pradesh. 72 hours of turmoil ends.
Today we Air Rescued someone out from KAZA (Spiti Valley of Himachal), suffering High Altitude Sickness and Gastro infection. . Youngsters embark, without acclimatization.
We rescued her thru Helicopter to a safe place. Air lifted to Manali hospital. Finally, ISAPL brought her by Air Ambulance to Delhi for Super Specialty Medical treatment. While we were concerned about her health and life. ISAPL was in the midst of a bad-weather chaos every 4-5 hours. The Air Ambulance (Chopper) movement were curtailed / diverted / stalled multiple times. Thanks to our Pilot of Helicopter (Air Ambulance) for his resilience, experience and empathy. Thanks to the Medic team who infused enough of care, affection and confidence into her

A Midnight Mission to save a Neo-Natal

When our heart starts praying and our Medical team at its best and our staff is on the toes.
Humane to Those in Distress !

We together saved the naive life of an infant tourist. Mission started at 7:00pm to transfer from Goa to Mumbai. A bed-to-Bed transfer. Special Medical team formed with neo-natal Pediatrician and a backup doctor.  2 Sets of equipment for a fail-safe mission. Our Director-Operations Ms. Poonam knows it all. Her team was just there for next 6 hours.
It had many jittery movements of transfer thru Road ambulances, Air Ambulance.  Air Ambulance landing permissions. A Remarkable coordination among 3 countries, 2 time zones, 9 agencies and some 20 odd individuals.

Yes, it was critical. Our back-up team and equipment were helpful.
Baby stabilized in Mumbai hospital for the next 12 days. Now safe at home his home country.
